Where can I download Tribd?

Tribd is available on the App Store for iOS users. You can go to Download Tribd section on our website, where you will find direct link to Tribd in the App Store.

Is Tribd available worldwide?

Tribd is currently available in 54 countries, but we have plans to expand globally. Follow @tribdapp on social media for news and updates!

Is Tribd Available on Android?

Tribd is currently not available on Android, but we are planning to make it happen! Stay tuned and follow @tribdapp on social media.

Is Tribd Available on Windows?

Tribd is currently not available on Windows, but we will make sure to let you know through our social media @tribdapp, when this happens.

Is Tribd free?

Yes, Tribd App is free to use.

Your Account with Tribd

How can I sign up to Tribd?

You can sign up to Tribd using your Facebook account. You will need your Facebook login and password to sign up to Tribd and create your Tribd profile.

Why do I need Facebook account to sign up to Tribd?

Because we want Tribd users to be able to interact with real users, not fake accounts. We believe that signing with Facebook allows for more authenticity.

We hope to verify users in the future, so travellers can have peace of mind that they are connecting with genuine travellers looking for a travel partner.

What information do you collect about me?

We only collect information necessary to provide you with the service you subscribed to. Some of that information includes your first name, date of birth, e-mail address, your location and travel preferences. Please refer to our Privacy Policy https://www.tribdapp.com/privacy-policy/ to understand what information we collect about you.

Profile Settings

How can I create my profile with Tribd?

When you download Tribd, you need to sign in with your Facebook account to create your Tribd profile.  You will need to sign in using your Facebook credentials, but no worries, we won’t have access to those!

Tribd profile created with your Facebook account, contains your first name, and your Facebook profile photo. You can change your profile photo later, if you wish to upload a new photo. We will also ask you to enter your date of birth, so we can calculate your age. Your age will be shown to other users. We provide users with the ability to select the age range of a potential travel partner.

You can complete your profile in the Edit Profile section, by adding more photos, setting up your profile picture and adding About me description, so other users can learn more about you.

Nobody wants to match with an empty or ambiguous profile! By adding photos and a short description about yourself, your profile looks more genuine to other users!

Can I sign in to Tribd from different Facebook account?

Yes, you can sign in to Tribd with a different Facebook account. Firstly, please log out of existing session on Tribd. Log in to your Facebook account using web browser. Go to Settings section on Facebook.  Find Tribd within Apps and websites section on Facebook and remove it from your active apps.

Open Tribd App again, after you have completed the above steps. You will see two options: 

  • Login with Facebook Account

  • Login with Phone number or email address. Please choose this option to log in, using your Facebook credentials.

Tip: If you have Facebook open in different browsers (i.e. Safari, Google), make sure to log out of Tribd from your Facebook there too.

How can I edit my profile?

By tapping on Edit Profile section.

You can upload photos, delete photos and update About me information within Edit Profile section. Please don’t forget to hit Save, when you finished.

How Can I change my age on tribd?

You cannot change your age. To change your age, you will need to delete your account and create a new account. You will be asked to enter your date of birth again.

How can I add information About me?

You can enter information about you, by going into Edit Profile section, and tapping on Add About Me. 

You will see a pop up screen, where you can type a short description about yourself.

Please don’t forget to hit Save once finished, to ensure your information is updated.

You can change or update About Me anytime.

How can I add photos?

You can add photos, by opening Edit profile section and tapping on a ‘+’ sign.

You will be asked, whether you would like to take a photo with your camera, or upload a photo from your device.

You can add up to six photos to your profile.

Tip: If you currently don’t have a photo, try to upload a photo to Tribd to have a profile picture. Travellers are looking for a genuine person to connect with, and having a photo will increase your chances of connecting with other people!

How can I select my profile picture?

You can choose your profile picture, by pressing and holding on one of your photos in the Edit Profile section.

You will see the green circle around a photo, which will indicate the photo as your new profile picture.

That photo will appear enlarged on the screen, showing as your profile photo.

You can make any of your photos a profile photo, and change your profile picture anytime.

How can I remove photos?

You can remove a photo by selecting an ‘x’ sign on a photo in the Edit Profile section.

How many photos can I add to my Tribd profile?

You can add up to six photos.

How can I change my name on Tribd?

You cannot change your name on Tribd. This information comes directly from your Facebook profile. If you wish to change your name, you need to change it on Facebook. Please note, that there might be Facebook policies regulating changes to your Facebook account.

How can I change my location on Tribd?

You cannot change your location on Tribd. Your location is automatically established by your device GPS and is not something set-up manually. If you think your location may be displayed incorrectly, please contact us on contact.us@tribdapp.com and we will look into it! Please note, that your location is only refreshed when you are using the App.

How can I enable location services on Tribd?

Please go to the App Settings section on Tribd and select Notifications Settings option.

You will then be taken to your device settings: Settings section on your device.

Please select ‘While Using the App’ to enable your location data.

You can also access Settings section on your device, without opening Tribd App.

Please go to your device Settings section, scroll down to find Tribd and find Location. You can then select either ‘While Using the App’, to enable your location data.

Why do you show location on Tribd?

Because we want to show other users where you currently are, or where you are based.

Travel Preference Settings

How do I set up my Travel Preferences?

You can set-up your travel preferences within My Travel Preferences section.

Do I have to set up my Travel Preferences to use Tribd?

Yes, as without them we cannot show you other travellers meeting your criteria. Not all Travel Preferences are mandatory though.

Activity and Destination (Going to) are mandatory. 

Dates and Age range of your travel partner are not mandatory parameters.

If you have selected ‘Activity’ and ‘Going to’ only, we will still show you potential travel partner suggestions meeting your criteria.

How can I select my Activity?

You can select your activity within My Travel Preferences section.

Please open My Travel Preferences section and tap on Activity to see the Activity list.

You can select up to three activities by tapping on the Activity type. 

When finished please select Done, so your preferences are saved.

Activity is mandatory, as we want to connect people with similar interests, so please, don’t forget to hit ‘Done’ to update your new settings.

Tip: You can see which activities you selected, as the box next to the Activity is highlighted in green.

How can I change my Activity?

You can change your Activity within My Travel Preferences section.

Please open My Travel Preferences section and go to Activity. Tap on the Activity that you would like to unselect.

Once you have unselected the activity, tap on the Activity you wish to choose.

You can select between one and three activities.

Please, don’t forget to hit Done when you finished with the changes to update your new settings.

At the moment, the activity list is small, to enable users to find a travel partner. As we are just starting and building a community, creating extensive activity list would make it difficult for you to find a person wanting to do the exact same activity, whilst also have the same location, dates and possibly your age range. If you cannot see specific activity you are interested in, the best option is to select 'Adventure Travel'. You can connect with other users and discuss your plans in more details.

How can I select my travel Destination?

You can select your Destination within My Travel Preferences section, with the help of Google maps.

To choose your destination, please open My Travel Preferences and tap on Going to section.

A screen with Google map and a search bar will pop up. You can use the search bar, in the same way you use Google maps.

Type the place of your interest, for example: Bali, Costa Rica, Yellowstone National Park.

You will see auto suggestions of places. Please select the place you would like to choose as your destination, and hit Done on the map when you finished. Go back to My Travel Preferences screen and hit 'Save'.

Why do I have problem with setting my Destination?

We use Google maps for iOS, which are slightly different to Google maps you normally get within your web browser. There are some instances, that you can find places using Google web, but they are not available on iOS. But don’t worry, we have worked hard to ensure that Google maps works as well as possible, for the purpose of selecting travel destination.

If you are looking for a specific place and cannot find it with the help of the search bar and Google map screen on Tribd, try broadening your criteria.

How can I change my travel Destination?

You can change your Destination within My Travel Preferences section, with the help of Google maps.

To choose a new destination, please open My Travel Preferences and tap on Going to section.

Please unselect current destination, displayed on the search bar by tapping on the ‘x’ sign within the search bar, and start typing a name of your new destination.

You can use auto complete function or type the full name of your new destination, then select the place you are going to and hit Done when you finished.

Please remember to hit Done before leaving Google maps screen, and to hit Save before leaving My Travel Preferences, to save your new destination criteria.

How can I select my travel Dates?

You can select your travel Dates within My Travel Preferences section, with the help of Calendar, within From Date and To Date sections.

You have the following options here:

  • From Date and To Date showing I’m flexible.

You can use this option, if you prefer not to select dates. For example, you don’t know your dates of travel, or are flexible on dates and just want to browse and see who’s out there matching your travel preferences. In this case, you can leave Dates set to I’m flexible as default.

  • You can also have either From Date or To Date showing I’m flexible, if you are flexible on when you will start or end your travel.

For example, if you are backpacking and thinking of going to a place around certain date, but are unsure how long you will stay at that place, select only From Date and leave To Date as I’m flexible. We will show you travellers, who’s travel dates overlap with yours.

  • If you have specific dates when you want to travel, or booked tickets already, please choose the calendar to select your From Date or To Date. When you open the calendar, please first unselect I’m flexible (small green box in the calendar section). You can now select From Date or To Date.

Please remember to hit Done when you finished, otherwise your dates won’t be saved.

How can I change my travel Dates?

You can change your travel Dates within My Travel Preferences section, with the help of the calendar, choosing From Date and To Date.

To change your travel dates choosing From Date and To Date, simply select a new date or choose I’m flexible option, if you do not wish to specify your travel dates.

Please remember to hit Done when you finished, otherwise your dates won’t be saved.

Travellers Discovery

how does Tribd matching works?

Tribd shows you profiles of people, who's travel plans are aligned with yours. When you have set and saved your travel preferences, Tribd will start searching for a suitable travel partner amongst users of the App.

Tribd calculates compatibility score between you and your trip buddy, and displays it on the profile shown to you. You will only see people, with fair, good or excellent compatibility.

Tip: If you want to increase your chances of finding a travel partner, keep using the app, browse and swipe on profiles you like. New users are joining every day, you never know who you will discover! Tribd refreshes your search every time you open the app, or when you hit Save and Search button (you don't even need to change your travel settings).

How can I see travellers who’s travel plans are similar to mine?

When you finished setting up your profile and travel preferences, hit Save and Search button within My Travel Preferences section. Once your preferences have been saved, tap on Magnifying Glass icon at the top centre of your screen, to move to the next screen and see others who's travel plans match yours.

You can look up the profile shown to you, read ‘About me’ to learn more about the person, and decide whether you would like to Accept or Reject the suggestion, by either tapping on green button to accept, or red button to reject the suggestion. You can also swipe left or right, to accept or rejected a profile.

When both travellers swiped right, you get a connection and will receive a notification message. You can view their profile and start chatting in the chat section, by tapping on the Message icon at the top of the screen.

With Tribd, you only connect with the person you want to connect, and you know they want to connect with you too! That way, you are safe from receiving unwanted and unsolicited contact. 

Tip: If you wish to see more people out there, try broadening your travel preferences, or changing the parameters you can be more flexible about. For instance, you can leave Age range set as default or very broad, choose more activities (up to three), or play with the dates of travel if you are flexible on those, alternatively set them both to I’m flexible.

Tip: You can hit Save and Search button within your Travel Preferences section to refresh the search. New users are joining every day, so there is always a chance their plans are similar to yours. More you use the app, more chances you have of meeting your travel buddy.

Don't just wait for someone to discover you, remember: you must also swipe right to get a matchKeep using the app to check if there are new people you may want to connect with, browse and swipe to match with them!

Why can't I see anyone meeting my travel preferences?

At this point, there can only be two reasons, why you aren’t seeing any other travellers who's travel plans are aligned with yours.

As Tribd App is recently released, it will take some time to build a community and spread the word. You can help, by sharing Tribd with friends, using Share Tribd with Friends button.

Other possibility, is that your travel criteria are too strict. For example, if you are into an Extreme Expedition (thinking of going to Antarctica or climbing Everest above the base camp?), there may not be enough users yet to share the same interests (again, we are just starting over).

Tip: If you wish to see more people out there, try broadening your travel preferences, or changing the parameters you can be more flexible about. For instance, you can leave Age range set as default or very broad, choose more activities (up to three), or play with the dates of travel if you are flexible on those, alternatively set them both to I’m flexible.

A good idea is also to add ‘Adventure holiday’ as a more generic option and be as flexible as you can, to generate more profile suggestions. You can always accept or reject the profile shown to you.

Tip: You can hit Save and Search button within your Travel Preferences section to refresh the search. New users are joining every day, so there is always a chance their plans are similar to yours. Keep using the app to check if there are new people you may want to connect with, browse and swipe to match with themMore you use the app, more chances you have of meeting your travel buddy.

Connecting with other travellers

How do I know, when I connected with someone?

When you connect with another traveller, you will receive a notification from Tribd.

Please remember to switch on notifications, within the App Settings section.

If your notifications are ‘off’, you will not receive a notification, but can still check your tribe, by going to Chats section. Tap on the Message icon at the top of the screen.

Travellers, you have connected with but haven’t talked to, appear on My Tribe section there.  

why don't I have any matches?

There could be possible number of reasons. For instance, if you have selected a specific destination, browsed and swiped through profiles of people, but then changed your destination shortly afterwards, people who are going to your previously selected destination won't see you anymore. Let's say you are going to Bali and swiped on a few users you liked. But then, you have changed your destination to Italy. Even if you swiped right on people going to Bali, if you aren't going to Bali anymore, those going there won't see you.

Tribd is only showing your profile to people if your current destination matches theirs, and if you also have compatibility in other areas.

If you are really looking to connect ahead of a trip, give a little time to allow other people to discover you. New users are joining Tribd every day, and if your plans are compatible, your profile will be shown to them, so you will get a chance to match with someone. But don't just wait for someone to discover you, remember: you must also swipe right to get a matchKeep using the app to check if there are new people you may want to connect with, browse and swipe to match with them!

More you use the app, more chances you have of meeting your travel buddy.

Another reason, why you may not have any matches yet, is when you select less popular destination. As Tribd is a new app, the community is still not that big, and there are some destinations more frequently chosen than other. However, as new people are signing up every day and Tribd community grows, your chances of meeting travel buddies increase!

Just keep using the app, you never know who just joined. Tribd refreshes your search every time you open the app, or when you hit Save and Search button (and you don't even need to change your travel settings).

I have rejected profile suggestion accidentally; can I get them back?

Unfortunately, if you have rejected a profile shown to you, or swiped left, you cannot get this person back. It may be possible, that you come across that profile again in the future, if your travel criteria will be similar again.

Why has my contact disappeared?

There a few reasons why you can no longer see your contact and your conversations with them.

·         They have deleted their Tribd Account

·         They have ‘un-matched’ you

·         We have removed their profile from Tribd App due to the breach of Terms of Use or community guidelines

Can I recover deleted contact?

Unfortunately, you cannot recover deleted contact. Before unmatching someone, we will ask you if you are sure, to prevent accidentally deleting the person you have connected with.

How can I unmatch my connection?

You can unmatch your connection by going to the Chats section. To access the Chats section. please select Message icon at the top of the screen. Please tap on the profile of a person you wish to un-match, which should open a chat. On the top right corner of the screen, you will see ‘…’ icon.

Please tap the icon and select Unmatch.

If you have changed your mind, please select Cancel.

Messaging

How can I chat with the person I connected with?

Once you have connected with other traveller, you can start chatting using Tribd instant messaging functionality.

You can start the chat immediately, if you see a notification screen pop up on your device, while using the app. Your connections are also shown within the Chats section, which you can access by tapping on the Message icon at the top of the screen.

Their photo avatar will appear within My Tribe section, if they are a new contact and you haven’t talked to them yet.

You can initiate the chat, by opening their profile and typing a message in a pop up screen.

Are my messages really private?

Yes, they are! The messages you exchange with other users are encrypted. We do not have access to the content of your chats.

Reporting Users

How can I report another user?

You can report users, by using Report button within user's profile suggestion screen shown to you, or within your Matches and Chats screen, by selecting 'Report' using profile preview function located on the right top corner of your Chat section.

App Settings

How can I enable notifications?

Please go to the App Settings section on Tribd and select Notifications Settings option.

You will then be taken to your device settings, Settings section on your device.

Tap on Notifications and select Allow Notifications.

You can also access Settings section on your device, without opening Tribd App. Open your device Settings, scroll down to search for Tribd amongst installed apps. Toggle the option from "off" to "on".

How can I enable location services on Tribd?

Please go to the App Settings section on Tribd and select Notifications Settings option.

You will then be taken to your device settings, Settings section on your device.

Please select either ‘While Using the App’ to enable your location data.

You can also access Settings section on your device, without opening Tribd App.

Please go to your device Settings section, scroll down to find Tribd and find Location. You can then select either ‘While Using the App’, to enable your location data.

How can I enable access to Mobile Data?

Please open Settings section on your device.

Scroll down to find Tribd and find Mobile Data.

Toggle the option from "off" to "on".

How can I delete my profile?

Please go to App Settings section on Tribd. Select Delete Profile option.

Before deleting, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to delete your profile.

If you are sure, select OK.

Once you have selected OK, your profile will be deleted.

Can I recover deleted profile?

Unfortunately, you cannot recover deleted profile. Once deleted, it’s deleted for ever! We don’t store your information! To prevent accidentally deleting your profile, we will show you a pop up notification, asking if you are sure about deleting your profile.

If you would like to have a profile with Tribd after deletion, you will have to create it again, by signing in with Facebook.

Sharing Tribd

How can I tell someone about Tribd?

We make it easy for you to tell your friends about Tribd!

When you open a profile section on Tribd, you will see Share Tribd with Friends option. Tap on the Share Tribd with Friends, select an option how you want to spread the word, and send a message about Tribd!  

What is Share Tribd with Friends?

It’s an opportunity to tell others about that app, that you think they can benefit from it!

So, use Share Tribd with friends to spread the word and expand the community!

Tribd Community Guidelines, Privacy and Safety

Community guidelines and our Terms of Service are here to ensure that all users have an enjoyable experience using Tribd. Users whose behaviour won’t meet our standards and Terms of Service may lose access to Tribd.

Be real

Don’t pretend to be someone that you are not. Tribd is about finding a genuine travel partner, so don’t use fake Facebook account, post photos or content that isn’t yours or provide incorrect information about yourself. Scammers will be identified and removed from Tribd community.

Photo guidelines

Please follow these guidelines, to ensure you and others have enjoyable experience using Tribd.

You must not post the following types of photos. If you do, you may lose access to Tribd.

·       No nudity

·       No photos of kids on their own, or photos of kids without clothing

·       No photos that don’t belong to you, or represent you

·       No underwear photos

·       No pornographic material

·       No violence on photos

·       No drugs on photos

·       No watermarks on photos

Messaging guidelines

Be respectful to others. Don’t use offensive or abusive language, as it may result you being removed from the community. Don’t harass others! If you are lucky enough to connect with someone, respect the person on the other end. Remember, they can easily unmatch you, so treat them, like you want to be treated.

Tribd is about community sharing similar values, and being rude, derogatory or offensive is not one of them!

Sharing personal information

Don’t post any private information, such as phone number, e-mail address, contact details, bank account details, or other personal information on your public profile within Tribd. If you wish to share your details with the person you connected with, please do so using instant messaging functionality. Always express caution before giving away too much personal information.

Safety guidelines

Whether it’s online or offline, remember that until you get to know someone, they are still a stranger. For the comfort and safety of our users, we have the swipe and match functionality preventing from unsolicited messaging, as well as the ability to report inappropriate behaviour using Report button or an option to unmatch user. If you connect with someone and decide to plan a trip together, or meet at your next destination, use the same awareness and common sense, as if you have met them any other way. Don’t take unnecessary risks. Remember, trust is earned, not given.

Tribd isn’t a dating app

Tribd is about connecting like minded travellers, who are looking for a travel partner for their next adventure, not a dating app. If you are looking for romantic interest, you will be better off somewhere else! There are plenty of other platforms offering that service.
